CheapUSE – Was Not Bad

Update: CheapUSE is now out of business! We recommend you have a look at the providers we recommend on the homepage.

CheapUse.net is another Usenet provider that we wanted to review to see exactly what they really offer. We noticed that they did not offer many price plan options and the only two you can choose from are unlimited plans. They do not offer a free trial but they do offer online support so if you are a new customer, you should have no issues getting help easily. They must be a growing provider because some of the features that they have listed state, “coming Soon”. One of those features was a secure server so stay tuned. Another thing we noticed about this provider was that they have uncapped speeds and up to 30 connections available. We dug deeper to come up with some of the other features they offer and some of the features that they do not offer.

Retention: CheapUse currently offers a 400 day text retention and a 400 day binary retention. This is not the lowest retention we have seen but if you are looking for more retention, try some of the competitors that we have listed on our home page.

Anonymity: They currently do not offer SSL but it is supposed to be coming soon. If you are looking for a service provider that provides SSL, check out some of the Usenet providers that we have featured on our home page.

Pricing:

Currently CheapUSE.net only offers two price plans. The good thing about this provider is that they do not have caps on their speed. Each plan includes uncapped speed and 9 simultaneous connections available. They only offer unlimited plans which are as follows:

- Unlimited price plan for $0.03 for the first 3 days

- Unlimited price plan for $7.99 a month

They do not offer a free trial or any other price plans.

Speed: They only offer one server farm and it is located in the United States. The server is also not secure but they do offer up to 9 simultaneous connections. They offer an un-capped speed for both of their price plans which is great if you are like me and you hate limits on your account. They have speeds around 5MB per second on average.

Features:

- 99% Completion rate

- Up to 9 simultaneous connections

- E-mail and Online support

The great thing about CheapUse.net is that they offer online support. With me, I do not like not being able to get help when I need it. Waiting for e-mails are a drag, especially if you want to be connect right now. Offering live support is a great way to really hook customers.

Recommendation:

I would recommend CheapUse to those of you who are looking for a fast, simple and cheap way to get an unlimited account. If you do not need SSL, than CheapUSE just might be right for you. They have live support and a high completion rate as well. I would not recommend them to anyone who really likes choices in their price plans. Either way, make sure to check out some of the other providers that we have listed on our home page and see what they offer. Shopping around is key in finding the right Usenet provider for you. You will also want to ensure that they have your favorite newsgroups available.
